Sunny London Weekend.

Last weekend was just beautiful, but it has taken me until this weekend to tell you what I have been up to! I had two friends come and visit me for an overdue catch up. We had a lovely relaxed time (with oh so much food!!). We all pottered down to Brixton Market Saturday morning and chose a cute little cafe called Toast. Let your eyes feast on the photos below, and I can tell you the food so was just delicious, we even treated ourselves to a piece of millionaire shortbread, yumma!

I have never actually been to Brixton Market during the day before, so this was a wonderful new experience. There were so many little quirky shops with some brilliant items for sale. My absolute favorite pieces were the two biscuit adapted cushions below. I know what I will be sending to my friends as birthday presents haha!

The stores themselves were so cute I had to document them too! ... and so I know is where I can head back too when I need great gift ideas (I urge you to go and take a look as well, the market is fantastic!!).

Out of all the photos I took last weekend, the below image is my favorite! It's as if my friend (god love her) has just had an idea... *ding*

There was so much fabric around the market, but mostly in the form of curtains and clothes. The tropical theme seemed to spill all throughout the market and extended to this beautiful wall paper below. I have popped a link to a website that supplies the monochrome paper on my Facebook, so do have a look.

After breakfast we mooched up to Summerset House to see the Guy Bourdin Exhibition, which featured over 100 works and previously unseen material from the his estate, from 1955 to 1987. It is such a major show and it describes Bourdin’s distinguished 40-year career from Man Ray’s protégé to photography revolutionary in his own right and explores his pursuit of perfection. The exhibited also shows the craftsmanship behind his images, from production to publication, and their enduring quality as a consequence. The ideas he portrays are completely original, and I am not normally a fan of photography but it was utterly compelling, so go and see!!

There is always the obligatory cheeky photo, well done girls, nailed it! ... and whilst we were visiting Summerset House we had a quick look at the Beard Exhibition, my some of those men were truly beautiful. This exhibition featured over 80 images exploring the art of grooming, the show celebrates the enduring beard trend which has exploded across the world.  The pogonophiles come from all corners of the globe and from all walks of life; it even includes the famous facial hairs of actor John Hurt, models Ricki Hall and Billy Huxley, and artist Gavin Turk, but also other interesting characters such as tattooist Miles Better and British bearded woman Harnaam Kaur, who has been growing a beard since the age of 16 after being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, a condition which causes excess hair growth.

... And naturally the entire weekend was washed down with some delicious drinks at a great little bar in Shoreditch called The Discount Suit Company. We have been there a few times before and I just love it! It's a tiny little place, you would never know it was there. The bar staff are attentive the music is just perfect and you can have any cocktail you can think of! Check it out here www.discountsuitcompany.co.uk

I am always sad to see my friends leave at the end of the weekend, but I know we will be having the best summer. Watch out for more shenanigans and have a great week x
