In Bruges
This blog is a little late but I began to upload these
photos and thought just how beautiful the architecture in Bruges has become.
Myself and three friends made our way to Belgium to find we had picked the most
beautiful place to stay in the city, not only did it overlook a magnificent
church but the interior was simply divine. It was an Interior Designers dream
for inspiration; it was classic yet minimalistic so I had to show you the space
with lots of photos.
The building was so clean and beautiful; my photos do not do
the rooms any justice. The houses original features look as if they have been kept
as much as possible and have then been complimented with subtle modern pieces.
The kitchen was an absolute dream, the tiles were hand painted;
there was a beautiful Aga, a classic stone floor and authentic iron fittings.
If I took have taken it brick from brick out of Bruges and into my home I certainly
would have! The attention to detail, down to the positioning of each item was exquisite!
After I had gazed at the interior for too long,
we set about planning our time around the city. And obviously our first port of
call was some luncheon and Belgium beers!
Visiting Bruges with my friends gave us the opportunity to
go off the beaten track a little and we stumbled across this Cafe called the
Blackbird. Every building we visited was just wonderfully decorated and this
cafe was no exception. I love this time of year when the weather is turning,
there is a nip in the air and pumpkins begin to appear everywhere.
We were all fortunately love a good treasure trove and
Bruges is full of vintage shops and stalls and this is one we stumbled upon
called Depot D'o. It was full with retro furniture, taxidermy and neon signs, all
things I could fill my home with!
As per the film we had to take a trip to the top of the tower, as we did so however I caught this art instalation on route.
We were so lucky with the weather; it remained sunny for the
whole holiday. This meant we could sit outside and drink happily in
the sunshine. We also took a small boat ride down the river which runs through
the centre of the city with a tour guide that sadly sounded like one of those
DJs who muffles his voice over each of the songs they play, however he seemed to think
what he was informing us well so everyone was happy.
The city itself is a perfect size to walk through, around
every corner there is something new. On the last afternoon we walked over to a
very picturesque lake, through to several galleries, The Church of Our lady and
on route back we came across a quaint local market selling all sorts from
flowers, jewellery and delicious goodies!
Here is one of the last of the picture I took when walking home on the last day of the holiday. The lovely old dog laying in a shop door way, I could resist a cuddle, after all who could refuse a face like this?
All in all we had a very relaxed, Belgium beer filled and thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Get yourself over for a Christmas weekend it will be magical!
