Roma!

I have just got back from my jollies in Rome! My friend and I fancied a change of scenery away from the stress of real life to scoff our faces with pizza and pasta.

Elvis at the Coliseum, looking good!

It is such a shame the Coliseum went into such disrepair through the middle ages, our tour guide described it in it's full glory as having gold shields lined around the top of the structure with a working roof, the place must have looked magnificent!

If I am being honest this is probably the best sight we saw all holiday! Hahaha, bravo that hire company it is what David would have wanted.

Rome and its architecture certainly doesn't disappoint, it is stunning in every way. The skyline is littered with domes, steeples and oculus' all with their some pretty impressive frescoes and paintings.

I loved the colours of the building around Rome, they are these gorgeous rusty sand colours. Proper oldy woldy sort of feel throughout the whole city.

Good luck to that man.... what's Italian for heel!!!!

Trying to take a serious photo of the Vatican....!

The Vatican was adorned with beautiful sculptures but the obvious one to take my eye (I recognised his work from a trip to Bruges) was Mary and Jesus by Michelangelo.

Looking up into one of the ceilings in the Vatican.

My photos do not do this place justice, the artwork and craftsmanship that went into this building is completely overwhelming.

The detail is amazing, even down to the fabric on the sculptures, and we all know how much I love fabric.

Next stop was the Vatican Museum complete with a beautiful entrance. I also managed to get a cheeky photo of the Swiss Guard.

Drinks out on the Vatican terrace, as you do!

This was one of the many hall ways in the Vatican Museum, just breath taking.

We did try and take a few cheeky photos of the Sistine Chapel, but all the art work around the Museum was so detailed an beautiful you can have this picture instead.

Castle D'Angelo, the only castle in the city. I recognised it from Angels and Demons ha! I picked a lot of our sights from that film, Thank Tom Hanks.

This seagull couldn't have timed this photo any better.

The bridge of angels leading up to Castel D'Angleo.

Loved the colours of the wall against the statue, I wasn't too sure who that sculpture was of but I felt it was worthy of a photo.

This is the Angel of the City, he stands over and protects the city.

This was taken at the top of the castle, you could see the entire skyline of Rome littered with churches. It was beautiful and helped all the more by a lady giving us free tickets.

The beautiful Trevi Foundation, in the tiniest Piazza you have ever seen (bloody tourists got in the way too!)

As the tour guide suggests (which obviously everyone has read) we threw coins in to wish for good fortune and a whole lotta love. Although Craig sadly forgot he had to wish, better luck next time mate!

Me, asking if Craig is taking the photo. Obviously he did!

Official photo of the Pope!

Overall it was a brilliant trip, lots of wine, lots of food and lots of culture. I am well rested and now fairly well educated, all I want now is the summer to come to London. Keep an eye out for the next blog there will be more chairs to come soon but for now Ciao x
