Botanical Books
As you have most certainly noticed, my love for plants and especially plant books has got a little out of control, WILD you might say! The amount of books in general I have purchased recently are spilling out onto my window ledge (I am probably going to need a library soon enough). Anyway you may remember me talking about this first book I am going to introduce you a few weeks ago called 'Gathered'. This beautiful piece of work was created by Mary Norden, a fantastic stylist and Polly Wreford, an equally amazing photographer.
The book features photographs about the joy and beauty of flowers, most of which were grown by Mary in her East London garden. It’s great for anyone with an interest in gardening of course, but it’s also a book to just lose yourself in, whether you’re green thumbed or not! From the breathtaking colour combos of the flowers to the artistic arrangements, you’ll be drawn in instantly and I found it incredibly inspiring.
Now..... this final book Botanicum is my absolute favourite buy to date! it is stunning! It quite literally illustrates the plant kingdom in all its glory. Through captivating and beautiful illustrations by artist Katie Scott (who is brilliant) it shows perennials to bulbs to tropical exotica. It really is a wonderful feast of botanical knowledge complete with superb cross sections of how plants work.
From the images below you can see the book is so lavish, which as a visual person I absolutely love! when it came in the post I think I ordered the child's or partially sighted version, because it was huge (along with the writing inside). No matter because it is now sitting on my chest of drawers so I can leaf (see what I did there!) through it whenever it catches my eye.
All of these books I purchased from Ebay, apart from Gathered which is sold through Mary Norden's own website called US Publishing. I would recommend these books so highly especially if you LOVE plants as much as I do, but if not they are fantastic pieces of art fro your coffee table!

Another beautiful coffee table book I have recently purchased (which I found in a COS store in South Kensington) is Greenterior. It's about plant-loving creatives and their homes. It documents eighteen designers and artists through the lens of their abundant houseplants.
In the book each home tour is accompanied by an interview with the artist about their emotional connection to nature, as well as a guide to the greenery within. It is a sincere plea for more greenery in your houses since it is the easiest way to feel connected to nature, which sometimes seems far away and can often feel that way living in London.
Basically if you love plants (and Interior) you have to get this book! It makes me want to litter my place with plants to a very unhealthy and obsessive degree. But knowing me I would forget to water them or simply water them when it was too late! I wonder at times how I manage to look after myself never mind the small bunches of flowers I buy from Marks and Spencers.
