New Year, New Chairs.

Hello! And a Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2014 has started off well, as you can tell I have been very busy. I had someone approach me recently to ask about my process, naturally I obliged and have created a little time line so you can all see what I do.

I always like to strip the wood back to its original colour, especially in this case because it looks beautiful! All I had to do is cover the legs in a little Danish Varnish to bring out the shine and some soft wax to seal it. The following step was to create a cushion feel so the chair is not only practical but comfortable, which meant covering its entirety with cotton wadding.

I wanted to keep the chairs original charm, so I felt the fabric should reflect. I carefully cut out the patterns and began fixing the pieces in place (as you can see in the picture below).

As a final touch I thought a velvet trim would suit very well, and I am very pleased to say the result is as I had imagined.
The Chair below is the sister and the fabric I chose  is also a beautiful Designers Guild that I had been dying to get my hands on for ages. The flowers give it a completely different feminine look and feel (more boodwah) They are both now of course up for SALE in all the usual places, so if you are interested you can buy them online or drop me an email at steph.lane.1988@gmail.com

I have had so many wonderful pieces of fabric recently that I also bought this stool. I absolutely love it, out of all the piece this is probably my favorite. Stools are not normally the focus of the room and that is why I think they need to be a little more interesting. What is more I have SOLD it to a lovely friend in Leicester who has recently moved into a flat. I do hope her and her partner love it as much as I do!

The cushions below are belated Christmas presents created by the wonder Hollie from http://www.hazelandeliza.co.uk/ (You should almost certainly have a look at her stuff!) I am going to ask her to create some more beauties So they will hopefully be available in the next month so do keep a look out.

And finally, this is one of a pair of chairs I am currently working on. I am thinking of a burgundy and grey theme with some piping around the seat cushions, they would look great in anyone's living room!
Anyway that is enough talking from me, I am off to think about eve more chairs. G'night and Happy New Year!
