What Is Coming!

Hasn't Autumn come round ever so quickly? But that means lots of cosy coloured fabrics! And I have some fantastic pieces of furniture to transform into some must haves for your home!

This is the first of my next projects, for a lovely guy in Cheltenham. He has already got a Tweed in mind, which makes my job a lot easier. It means I can crack on with it as soon as the chair arrives (the Tweed is pictured below in green). I have been after a chair in this style for so long so it is great I finally have it to work on, although if I had my way I would like to keep everything I have made ha!

My Cheltenham customer also preferred the shape of the chair below, however I just wasn't able to source anything similar was a real shame. I am a large fan of Scandinavian Furniture so I have to say I really do prefer the Chair I will be working on. I think no matter what fabric you put with Scandinavian furniture it fits incredibly well, because the shape is so simple.

Now this particular project I am so very excited about! It is a beautiful two seater Ercol Style sofa (not an original Ercol but just as attractive)  The webbing underneath the chair has been renewed so the only work for me is to sand the entire thing down to see the lovely light wood under all the varnish.

As for the fabric, I had some great colours in mind for how I want it to appear. I have purchased a beautiful Green Cotton from Designers Guild and a Dark Grey Wool from Ebay and combined together they will cover all four cushions. I would like the cushions to combine both the colours I.E a green cushion with grey piping and a grey cushion with green piping. Until I see the Fabric however and do a little arranging, I won't be 100% sure.

After doing further research on some Ercol style sofas, many of them appear to have cushions just to give it a fuller look. With this in mind I have a mixture of three green cushions to use on the sofa (that are pictured above) They have not sold yet, so I thought I could use them as part of this sofa.

And finally the picture below will be the makings of two fur cushions, also for a friend in Cheltenham. She has just moved into a new flat and I thought it would be lovely to have something cosy to start making it her own!

Right I have just been handed a nice cup of tea, so I am off for this evening. I will post some more photos once I have made a little more progress with the furniture. Have a great week!

  1. Cool project! The lines in Scandinavian furniture are nice and sleek, that's for sure. Unfortunately, because I have long legs, I often find that the seats are rather low for me. Leveraging myself up out of them is always an awkward business.
