Recent Re-upholstery

I have felt incredibly productive recently; my creative thoughts have not stopped! I only wish I had more hours in the day be able to complete all the work. There have been many wonderful pieces of furniture online recently and I have been spoilt for choice! I have featured my two recently completed pieces below.

The first is a solid wood sofa, designed with Ercol in mind. I decided to keep the colours true to the era and stay with grey and yellow. I wanted the cushions on the sofa to be interchangeable so that it could mould into any environment. The two patterned cushions I added to the sofa was a happy accident, I was testing whether cushions would improve the look thought they really matched rather well so included them both. Sadly the time it has taken me to write this blog the Sofa has now been sold, but you can still view it online through my blog or Facebook page.

The second piece is this beautiful little Retro Stool that has come all the way from my German dealer. It is genuine Danish furniture, which is wonderfully designed and very sturdy. I had some of this beautiful leaf fabric left over and was desperate to use the last ruminant (which fit perfectly over this stool). I often think stools are not particularly attractive; they are built to serve a function. So in using this brightly coloured fabric the stool becomes much more of a feature to whatever room it is situated within.

It is currently for SALE on Etsy, Ebay and Big Cartel so check it out before it goes!

I have two more pieces to get started on, neither of which has arrived yet, but I thought I would give you a glimpse into my fabric choices. I have had a real fascination with Geometric Prints recently and the theme has continued for the new creations.
I sadly only have one of the chairs pictured below, they proved incredibly popular but I managed to snap up the last one! They have such an unusual shape and style I was desperate to reupholster it in a new colour. The fabric I have chosen is a yellow coloured canvas fabric that will bring the chair right up to date. I was originally thinking to team it with a darker blue colour but I do love grey so have chosen a beautiful wool to compliment the busy geometric pattern. I am undecided as to where to place the colours, but you will see it develop as I document its journey.

...And finally this is another stool I had had my eye on for a while. It is an original G Plan piece, so I don't really want to touch the wood. From what I have seen in the pictures the only damage is to the faux vinyl on the seat, so it will need minimal restoration. The fabric I have chosen for this piece is, of course another geometric pattern from Korla Designs. Similarly to the previous stool I really want to make it a centre piece in any room and this bright colour should certainly do the trick.

I will keep you posted with all the updates very soon, but for now I am just super busy! Have a good week x
