Art From Leicester.
This weekend was a super busy one! I shot off to Leicester for my friends Gallery (Two Queens) Studio After Party for the Fine Art Degree show, and I can tell you it went brilliantly. This is the first year away from University that we did not recognize anyone displaying their work, so all of the students that came to the party we had never met. This is great news for the Two Queens Gallery and even the Head of Fine Art made his way over to that party. Two Queens are making a big impression, I hope others follow in their footsteps.
I took a few pictures of the night, unfortunately they are a little fuzzy, but I can assure you it the video installations and props looked fantastic!
The picture about was created by one of my friends Kerry Jackson. This light installation was inspired by Sea Navigation, once the shapes touch the route is correct and the 'ship' would be on course. Kerry herself would be able to explain it better to you, but even as a piece of sculpture I loved it, she is so clever!
All of the Gallery Staff took turns in a small DJ set, good job they all have good taste!
There was even an Aldi Shopping bag pinata, along with laser limbo! You got to love us Students we are all very creative!
The following day we went to visit the Fine Art Degree Show, If you want to know anymore about it follow this link. On the way through the Art and Design building, I had to stop and have a look at this beautiful sofa, it has given me a great idea for one of my chairs!
I collected an Art and Design Brochure which summarised some of the best work throughout the whole faculty and you can now have a little preview online >> HERE.
Below are some of my favourite pieces from the show and I won't comment on them because I think they are just brilliant as they are! Enjoy the images, then get to Leicester and visit the Show!
