Lizzie's New Chair.

As you may remember I have had a few friends recently buy canal boats in London, one of which (Craig) is restoring his to create a modern bachelor pad. I last received an update from the second boat friend (Philippa), who is parked just along the canal from the restoration boat, and that the condensation was quite heavy. From The photo below you can see a fire has been fitted and with all this cold weather I hear it has been very welcome (no more condensation, or indeed waking up covered in water).

This of course means work can start again, now that hands don't have to be hidden by layers and layers of blankets. The next job is obviously the floor, as you can see from the pictures below.
It will hopefully update the boat and give it a clean, polished feel, miles away from the dated, twee cottage impression it previously inhabited.

On speaking to Craig, he wants minimalism and simple colours (this often extends to his appearance and clothes) So it has been difficult to suggest bursts of colour onto the boat, just so it's not in danger  of looking too much like 'The White Company' Show Room. However I do believe having a white palette is often a good idea. You can introduce colour at a later date or indeed change the style or shade to suit summer, winter or whatever the mood.

I have found a few photos online to show Craig. Each have small amounts of colour which brighten the room. After all he will be living there, it needs to be warm and homely rather than cold and dreary.

Hopefully he can use these images below as further inspiration on his boat.

This brings me on to the main reason for this blog, I am creating a chair for the restoration boat. However like I said previously, trying to introduce colour has been a difficult and long process. I am quietly confident that the fabrics below will match the Ercol Chair he has chosen for his interior.

The bulk of the chair of course will be grey, with a hint of colour (i.e. some yellow piping around each cushion) I think it will be enough to create some warmth on the boat.

Given the size of the boat and the space Craig has in 'the living room' he has made a decision to have a 'Day Bed' rather than a sofa that folds out into a bed. This should give him a little more space and the option to still have a spare bed for guests. The Chair he has chosen is an Ercol Day bed pictured below, sadly this is not the exact chair (it is beautiful and I would not want to change it!)

I have only been able to source the chair currently, but I am on the lookout for a stool so if you see one do let me know.

I will keep you up to date on how things progress. Have a good week y'all and a fantastic Christmas!
