Mexico
Last month I was unbelievably fortunate enough to take a work trip to Mexico. I cannot begin to tell you how the warm weather completely changes your mood and I now totally understand why everyone has a sleep mid afternoon. It is just a little too warm to get any work done haha, how brilliant is that! I wish we had that in the UK. Anyway I took about a hundred photos but I have managed to narrow the blog post down to these photos you see below. They are mainly of me lazing around looking at the beautiful surroundings combined with the obligatory animal picture (check out the kittens!!). We stayed in our beautiful beach huts a stones throw from the beach itself. The décor was simple (and white - which I obviously LOVE!) and the view that looked out onto the seascape.
After breakfast on one of the mornings I walked back along the beach and collected up some coral that washed up on the beach. Some pretty good finds I think (see below). Over the time we were in Tulum the beach featured quite heavily. We spent some time at the beach bar that had a ready made picture frame to take a great snapshot of the beach. I am confident it was intended for individuals taking photos of themselves but I don't think you want to see me in a bikini when you could have a beautiful picture of the sea. Whilst we spent hours just relaxing on the beach we experienced quite a few sales pitches from children laden down with colourful pom poms. I managed to take a close up (that stayed in focus) of one boy who came strolling proudly up to us, sadly I did turn him down as bright colours just aren't my style.
One of the days you will be surprised to hear we did actually leave the hotel to explore the main strip in Tulum. The entire street was littered with bright colourful signs and tourist attractions. We past so many hammocks and pieces of fabric I could have cried. I couldn't fit any in my bag home, and if I am being really honest I could hear my boyfriend's voice in the back of my head saying 'well where are you going to put the hammock'. He is far too sensible but I suppose he is right.
The second day we did wonder out a little further and had so much guacamole it was silly but it was oh so delicious at the same time! The restaurant we visited is pictured below, look at the amazing pink chairs. Earlier that day we had been to what can only really be described as paradise. I presume they were local swimming posts with clear blue water and a picturesque backdrop. We had a swim in the burning heat of the day and it was oh so satisfying. Remembering that we were also tourists we had to visit at least one Mayan Pyramid, but instead we got three! Each represented different parts of life, from sacrificial events to birth and religious ceremonies. It really wasn't the architecture I was expecting to find in Mexico but it is interesting to know that everywhere in the world has its own rich history.
Mexico is amazing, it is one of the most beautiful, friendly and hottest places I have ever travelled to and I would certainly recommend visiting. I am back in the UK and luckily we are experiencing some fantastic weather at the moment so my withdrawal symptoms are not too bad, but I need summer to roll around very quick so I can keep enjoying the sun on my face.
