Easter Weekend Boot Fairs.

I hope you had a lovely long Easter weekend, especially now the sun has decided to make an appearance, hurrah! My weekend was filled with boot fairs, markets and chocolatey indulgence.
I accompanied a friend, who was on the lookout for crockery to decorate the tables at her 1920's style bridal shower. Everyone who has been invited is encouraged to bring their own cup and saucer creating a kitsch interpretation of classic British tea party. So naturally we headed out to a Homeware Boot Fair in search of a bargain.

ST. Augustine's School Boot Fair.

ST. Augustine's School in Kilburn was the Boot Fair of choice; however we soon got distracted from our main objective when we started to notice animal themed porcelain. The unfortunate looking Hippo Tea Pot pictured below seemed to be frozen in a constant state of surprise; as perhaps you would be if tea were to pour from your mouth, but nevertheless it was amusing. The crockery humour continued with a forlorn Fish, a bashful Pig, a nonchalant Cat and two cantankerous Pugs. What a picture they would have looked around the table. Sadly we chose not to purchase any of the animals despite their hilarity and continued with our spree until we came across a small Tea Set that we instantly snapped up at the bargain price of £4 (pictured below, under the cantankerous Pugs).

With most Boot Fairs you really do have to rummage to find items of quality, and I would say there was plenty to offer at ST. Augustine's School. However do go with an open mind as you may not come away with a bargain. If you do want to take a visit or even apply for a stool visit www.thelondoncarbootco.com.

Portobello Market.

After the Boot Fair still feeling adventurous, we hoped on a bus over to Notting Hill Gate to the wonderful Portobello Market and oh my goodness the streets were packed with goodies. Just take a look at some of the wonderful crockery being sold; they had everything from modern designs to traditional clotted cream pots and regal bone china tea sets. There is something for everyone along Portobello, I even found myself gazing at the beautiful little houses situated either side of the road contemplating just what it would be like to live in such splendor.

I did finally find and purchase a cup and saucer for the Bridal Shower, but it was neither from the Kilburn Boot Fair or Portobello Market. This darling little set is for available now at Zara Home at a very reasonable price. If you are tempted by the cup do look at the website ZaraHome, the New Spring Collection has just arrived and it is exquisite!

Easter Cakes At The Hummingbird Bakery.

We did have to make a last obligatory cake and coffee stop to re-fuel before heading home. The Hummingbird Bakery was our choice and look at those chocolatey eggs, yummy! I do not regret a single
calorie gained, it is Easter after all!
